A Brief History of Maryland Kachin Baptist Church

Maryland Kachin Baptist Church (MKBC) is a Baptist Denomination in Maryland, USA. It was established on Jan 26, 2014. The Kachin Baptist believers in Maryland began to open up their hearts to worship God in their own language delightfully. Therefore, Mr. Lahtaw Zau Hkyen, Gumgrawng Hkan Naw and Lakang Dau Qae (Ah Le) went to respected Rev. Maran Yaw’s home to discuss about planting an ethnic Kachin Church in Maryland on December 25 2013 and the first meeting of Kachin community of Maryland was held on December 28, 2013 at Lahtaw Zau Tu’s home. The Lord began to speak to the heart of La htaw Zau Tu’s family members to open up their home in Baltimore as a temporary devotion place for this new body of believers in the United States of America.

The first worship service of Maryland Kachin Bapist Church was conducted on Sunday morning, Jan 26, 2014 with the blessing of Rev. Maran Yaw. Forty seven people were being there in this worship service. On that Sunday, Young pastor called Lakang Dau Qae (Ah Le) was appointed as a minister and proper executive committee members were selected for the MKBC ministry.

The draft Constitution of Maryland Kachin Baptist Church was ratified by the executive committee of MKBC and members of Mid-Atlantic Kachin Christian Fellowship at Lahtaw Zau Tu’s home on March 1, 2014. Maryland Kachin Baptist Church was registered in Maryland State, USA officially on August 12, 2014. Maryland Kachin Baptist Church is affiliated with Kachin Baptist Convention, Kachin Baptist Churches, USA, District of Columbia Baptist Convention and American Baptist Churches, USA.
